WHERE IS LITHOCRETE® USED?
Used in commercial, residential and institutional settings,
Lithocrete® (www.Lithocrete.com)
is a proprietary architectural concrete paving system that
melds the structural properties of reinforced concrete with
the esthetic qualities of select aggregate materials such
as granite, glass, marble, limestone, and shells.
DOES LITHOCRETE® HAVE SUSTAINABLE ATTRIBUTES?
Along with its esthetic value and durability, Lithocrete®
has characteristics that make it popular for sustainable building
and development, e.g.Glass Lithocrete®.
WHY IS LITHOCRETE® SPECIAL?
Lithocrete® is a monolithic paving process that blends both
"old world" paving finishes such as granite and
stone with innovative paving finishes incorporating the select
aggregates. Almost any type of hard, durable aggregate can
be used in the preparation of Lithocrete® paving.
SPECIFICALLY, WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED IN LITHOCRETE®?
Aggregates that have been used successfully in Lithocrete®
include crushed rock such as granite, obsidian, quartz, serpentine,
and marble. Other materials include opaque or translucent
glass in hundreds of colors, gems and minerals such as turquoise,
agate, obsidian, quartz, pyrite ("fool's gold"),
jasper and serpentine, as well as sea shells including beach
pebbles, silica carbide, mica, "pixie dust," terra
cotta, slate, tile, and brass insets. Because of Lithocrete’s®
unique patented process, reactive aggregates such as glass
or pyrite can be utilized without any negative reaction.
WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS HAVE USED LITHOCRETE®?
The use of the large variety of aggregates and finishes covered
by Lithocrete’s® patented process have been successfully specified
and installed on such nationally famous projects in Southern
California as the Japanese American National Museum, the Reagan
Library, Richard Nixon Library, 2000 Avenue of the Stars,
the Getty Villa, Hollywood & Highland (the Kodak Theater),
the Griffith Observatory, Ahmanson Theater, Crystal Cathedral,
USC, and the Los Angeles Zoo. It has also been used in five
large commercial projects in the world famous Century City
mixed-use district in Los Angeles.
WHAT DOES LITHOCRETE® COST?
For comparison with standard architectural concrete, you should
be able to install approximately 20,000 square feet of Lithocrete®
to only 8,000 square feet of granite or stone paving. In addition,
Lithocrete® can substantially reduce maintenance costs in
a short period of time for the owner.
